Desert Song by Hillsong

Verse 1:
This is my prayer in the desert
And all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in the hunger in me
My God is a God who provides

Verse 2:
And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flames

Chorus:
And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon forged against me shall remain

I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

Verse 3:
And this is my prayer in the battle
And triumph is still on it's way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand

Bridge:
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

Verse 4:
This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be emptied again
The seed I've received I will sow

~~~Insight~~~
This song was just shared to me earlier by one of my closest girl friends, Ms. El Shaddai Loresco.
All of us get through those dry moments in our lives. Our weaknesses. Our feeling of unworthiness. Our unfaithfulness to GOD. Our desert.
It is not about us. We are created to please our Creator. HE is worthy of all our praise.
It is not about whether we are worthy or not. GOD is our victory. HE is worthy of your love and worship.
We are filled to be emptied again. We strive to be perfect for HIM but that perfectness comes when HE comes back again. No one has been perfect and no one is. No one is righteous. No one is good. ONLY GOD IS.
In our weaknesses and imperfectness, GOD's glory shines!
In our desert, only GOD is our River!
Let HIM wash you, cleanse you and work in you. Open your minds and hearts.
Guess who's coming home?
Image from travel with a challenge
Well, the title should be in plural form hahaha!
My sisters are coming home! yay!
My mom is making a feast. hehehe! There's ice cream, salad and beef something. hehehe!
This is fun!
I am so happy because my sisters have a beautiful life in GOD now. My 23-year old sister works at Samsung as a PR Assistant. My 12-year old sister studies in a prestigious HS in the Philippines in Ilocos Sur. All GOD's blessings.
I am truly blessed with my 23-year old sister. She has been single since birth. No boyfriends yet. Now, she is patiently waiting as she is serving the LORD. She is focused in her youth cell group now and her job. Most of all, she is focused in GOD. One of GOD's blessings to her is her work. GOD has blessed her with free cellphones. hehehe! Also, she gets to go to other places in the country for free. When GOD gives, HE gives abundantly!
I am also blessed with my 12-year old sister. At a young age, she already has the hunger to win souls. She asked me to lead a youth cell meeting at her school. She didn't even ask my permission but assumed that I'll agree. Well, I did. hahaha! At a very young age, GOD is already reigning her life.
I am very honored to have them as my sisters.
If I had the chance to live my life over and over, I'd still want them to be my sisters.
SISTERS ARE LIKE PEARLS IN THE SEA. RARE BUT BEAUTIFUL.
Fifth Commandment
Deutoronomy 5:16
"Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you."
That is stated in the Old Testament. This is what's written in the New Testament...
First commandment: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' ~Matthew 22:37-38
Second commandment: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' ~Matthew 22:39
The Fifth Commandment in the Old Testament has a promise which is... "...so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you."
I have a testimony of a youth in our outreach church shared by our pastor. This girl just graduated Nursing and she wanted to undergo a Nursing Board Examination review in Baguio. But her dad asked her not to take the review, instead, asked her to take care of her sick grandmother. She obeyed her dad. She never reviewed for the exam. When the day of the examination came, she confidently went to take the examination. When the results came out, she passed the examination. Funny how our pastor compared her to a youth who fasted and prayed but didn't pass the exam.
Sometimes, GOD uses certain situations for us to learn important things that are forgotten nowadays. It is not always about fasting for something. Some people might be fasting 30 days a year but then they are still disobedient to GOD.
You might say that the New Testament is what's important now. Well, I must say, that's the reason why JESUS concluded it in 2 wise commandments. Love GOD and love your neighbor. You cannot say you love GOD if you don't love your neighbor. Why? Coz GOD created them, too. Neighbor includes your parents.
You might also say your parents are not worthy of your love. Well, let me ask you then, are you worthy of JESUS' love? No one is worthy.
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Still, HE died for us.
John 15:13
"Greater love has no one than this, that He lay down His life for His friends."
Good thing we aren't in the Old Testament anymore, because if we are, here is what's going to happen...
Exodus 21:15
Anyone who attacks his father or his mother must be put to death.
Exodus 21:17
Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.
My personal testimony: I have been a rebel. I thought running away from my parents was the best decision I've had in my life. Guess what? GOD led me back to them. I won't state everything but my dad's family has a generational curse which consists of not only one but lots of vices. The only way to cut that curse is to turn to the right path which leads to GOD and faith and trust in GOD. My dad hasn't been a good parent to us but he never heard us say that to him. Not a word. I believe that sometimes, it's more than just words and prayers. You have to act on your faith. Growth starts within you not around you. My mom never stopped praying for him. Sometimes, GOD tests your faith, prayer life, patience and perseverance. Sometimes, GOD makes you wait not only a year but more than 10 years. Yes, we waited more than 10 years. In fact, more than 20 years. GOD changed my mom and us, her daughters. It was worth the wait. Why? Now, my dad has completely changed. He reads the Bible every morning and evening. He has a morning and evening devotional with my mom. He stopped ALL his vices. Sometimes, we have to cut the curse and never tolerate it. Curses have consequences. But, we have to do it patiently and gently. When someone is in curse, he doesn't listen to anyone. He is stubborn.
Always remember: they are GOD's creation, too. HE wants to be with them as much as HE wants to be with you. (credits to Cody)
Curse - the cause of great harm, evil, or misfortune; that which brings evil or severe affliction; torment.
John 12:37-41
37Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. 38This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet:
"Lord, who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"
39For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:
40"He has blinded their eyes
and deadened their hearts,
so they can neither see with their eyes,
nor understand with their hearts,
nor turn—and I would heal them."41Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus' glory and spoke about him.
It was prophesied that...
Mark 13:12
Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
Read the whole chapter Mark 13
You don't want this, do you? Would you want to be in heaven while your loved ones are in the lake of fire?
Intercede and act on your faith.
I believed that my dad will change. He did. He started to change when he saw me change. It is not overnight, though. It is not all at once. It happened gradually. Also, GOD used an accident to convict him totally. GOD changed him.
As what the LORD said, we are the light in the darkness and salt of the earth.
Believers, prove that you have the LIGHT...
Luke 6:38-40
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
He also told them this parable: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
Matthew 5:13-16
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
I've read an article about 5 communication tools in a marriage. I believe some of this stuff is applicable to our parents and other people too. The article was written by Rob Flood. If you want to read his article, just click on his name.
I'd state some of the tools and relate it to others not just spouses.
1. The Principle of First Response: The course of a conflict is not determined by the person who initiates, but by the person who responds.
Example testimony: There is a parent who curses his child all the time whenever he makes a mistake. The child chooses to not speak and just pray.
It is always how we respond to a complication not how it was initiated. Wise men think before they speak.
2. The Principle of Physical Touch: It is difficult to sin against someone while you are tenderly touching them.
You should also be affectionate to your parents and give them the love even if it isn't given back to you for you know that what you sow is what you reap. And they'll realize someday in due time. In GOD's Perfect Timing.
3. The Principle of Proper Timing: The success of a conversation can be maximized if the timing of the conversation is carefully chosen.
If it is not the perfect timing, it will not happen. If you talk to a person whenever he's drunk or mad, it is useless.
4. The Principle of Mirroring: Understanding can be enhanced if we measure it often throughout a conversation.
We must understand that it is always "greater is HE that is in me than he that is in the world."
5. The Principle of Prayer: Success in communication is more likely when we invite God to be an active participant and guide.
We also have to communicate to others and to GOD. As what my mom always believes, communication is a big must in every relationship.
BE A BLESSING IN WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED! THERE IS A PURPOSE WHY YOU ARE PLANTED THERE. BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT SO THAT GOD'S LOVE WILL OVERFLOW TO UNLOVABLE PEOPLE. ONLY BELIEVE.
Make an impact. Make a difference. Make a ripple. Tip the scale.
GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY! GOD BE WITH YOU!
When we feel GOD's love, OVERFLOW!
When GOD seems so distant (October 2, 2008)
Preached in Taglish by Sister Becky Inakay
Some were translated to English
"This is the dark night of our souls." ~A.W. Tozer
It is easy to worship GOD when things are going great in our lives.
Ecclesiastes 3
Job 23:8
"But if I go to the east, He is not there;
if I go to the west, I do not find Him."
Isaiah 8:17
"I will wait for the LORD,
who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob.
I will put my trust in Him."
Though David is a man after GOD's own heart, frequently complains of HIS absence.
Psalm 10:1
"Why, O LORD, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide Yourself in times of trouble?"
Job - worshipped GOD no matter what
"Take everything from him but not his life coz he is Mine." ~GOD
1.) Tell GOD exactly what you feel and how you feel.
Job 7:11
"Therefore I will not keep silent;
I will speak out in the anguish of my spirit,
I will complain in the bitterness of my soul."
Pour out your feelings to GOD.
Psalm 126:5
"Those who sow in tears
will reap with songs of joy."
GOD wants us to develop the spirit of intercession.
GOD will hide HIS face because of your disobedience.
Angels catch our tears and bring them to heaven.
When we give out helplessness to GOD, it could be our statement of faith.
2.) Focus on who GOD is in HIS unchanging nature.
Hang out on GOD's nature.
Job 10:12
"You gave me life and showed me kindness,
and in Your providence watched over my spirit."
Philippians 3:1
"Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you."
Job 42:2
"I know that You can do all things;
no plan of Yours can be thwarted."
Job 23:10
"But He knows the way that I take;
when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold."
Job 34:13
"Who appointed Him over the earth?
Who put Him in charge of the whole world?"
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Job 19:25
"I know that my Redeemer lives,
and that in the end He will stand upon the earth."
GOD sees everything and HE keeps the record.
3.) Trust GOD to keep HIS promises.
Titus 1:2
"a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,"
GOD is not a man whose promises are always broken.
Remind GOD of HIS faithfulness.
4.) Endure
Giving is love.
5.) Remember what GOD has already done for you.
HE was nailed to the Cross for everything.
How can I stay in GOD's presence when HE seems so distant?
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."
What can men do to you when CHRIST is in you?
Encourage yourself.
The Epitome of Love and Patience
One day, a couple went to the mall to buy a pair of sandals for the guy.
As they were strolling the mall, the guy ended up choosing a pair at the department store. As they were about to pay at the cashier and handed the cashier the guy's credit card, the cashier asked for an identification card. The guy forgot to bring one. The girl checked for cash but there wasn't enough to pay the sandals. The girl was getting upset already. The guy who was already wearing the new pair surrendered them and put back the old one. The old pair was not even his.
The girl left the counter upset and went straight to the grocery store without even talking to the guy. The guy followed her wherever she went. He was just at her back following her even if she was furious of what happened.
When they were on their way home, the guy, without even saying a word about the incident, lovingly smiled and asked his girl, "are you ok?"
When they arrived home, he didn't say a word about the incident but he just hugged her and said 'I love you.' She realized what she did was wrong so she explained and they hugged each other.
~~~Insight~~~
I admire the guy so much for being so patient of what happened. He was supposed to be the one upset but he was patient enough and he showed genuine love and understanding to the girl. He was very gentle and didn't say a word about the incident.

In fact, they're both Christians. Come to think of it, the girl was the one who taught him patience.

How do I know? I am the girl.

I taught patience but I also learned from it. When I look at Cody, I see a guy of patience. A man of genuine love. Together, we grow spiritually. He is my accountability partner and I am his. He is never afraid to rebuke whenever I need it. I will be the first person to get hurt when someone would judge without even knowing him and say rude things about him.

A text message sent by Ate Cheryl:
GOD placed different people in our lives for a reason. Some to challenge us. Some to inspire us. Some to stretch us. Some to encourage us. And some more for other good reasons. But don't forget that you also play a unique role in someone else's life. So be happy; whatever you're doing. No matter how small or how difficult your task is, only you can do it! And only GOD knows how far your influence can go.

I never knew how far my influence would go but I saw it. I witnessed it myself. When Cody and I were still casual friends, we talked a lot about patience and he told me that he learned patience from me. I was very happy to know that but seeing it happen made me ecstatic. I also learned from it. I can be weak at times and struggle at some weak points but GOD uses other people to remind me of what good character is all about. GOD is alive! I am grateful for having Cody and I know he feels the same. We encourage and help each other spiritually. Something that I never expected but I would never want to lose now. I will always glorify GOD for a wonderful man HE has given me.

To end my story, my mom bought him a new pair of sandals on that same day.

Weakness

Each and everyone of us is not perfect. Specifically, Christians.

Christians have a goal to be holy and perfect in the eyes of GOD but we never get to that point. Why? Because IF we are all perfect, then we don't need GOD anymore.

I've had so many revelations today since I've been asking GOD so many times already. I need revelations everyday as much as you do, you know. I'm being makulit. hehehe! I'd love to share those revelations NOW! hehehe!

1st text message sent by Ate Cheryl:
Thought for the day:
"Don't ever try to understand everything; some things will just never make sense. Don't ever be reluctant to show your feelings; when you're happy, give in to it. When you're not, live with it. Don't ever feel threatened by the future; take life one day at a time. Don't ever feel guilty about the past; what's done is done. Learn from any mistakes you have made."

This is my revelation for my lovelife. I have been weak lately. Spiritually and emotionally. I believe it's because of my unfaithfulness to GOD. I admit that because of my busy schedule, my spiritual life has been affected. If your faith fails, everything else fails so put GOD first. Based on experience. I've always believed this. The devil took that 'weakness' as his foothold but I'm glad that my GOD is bigger than any foothold. HE is my Rock and my Fortress. My Deliverer. I have been scared in expressing my feelings through words. Something that is not good for a relationship. I asked for a revelation through a silent prayer and GOD sent me this text message. I believe so. GOD never disappoints me whenever I needed revelations.

2nd text message sent by Bro Nonie:
"Do you know what is hard about being too strong? Nobody might care to ask if you're hurt. But it's great coz GOD knows and cares for us."

Christians tend to show they're strong for GOD's glory but you can never show GOD's glory without showing your weaknesses. How can someone know that your GOD is strong if they don't know you're weak, right? It always feels great to have helped someone so let someone help you. Eliminate pride. Everyone around us get weak even our spiritual leaders. It is our responsibility to check on them once in a while and to encourage them even if it doesn't seem that they need it. We are their accountability partners. I've read news about pastors of big churches who failed and sinned big time. We can't watch them fail. Watch the holiness of others, as what my sister once said. It is the responsibility of the people (members) around them to check on them and not assume that they're strong all the time. Without my Cody, I would have failed this race. For those who don't believe that GOD uses people, well, better think again. Ponder on it. GOD uses my boyfriend to strengthen me. Not that GOD isn't complete but coz GOD's Holy Spirit lives in people who has faith in HIM. That's why GOD used Moses as HIS servant and Aaron as the speaker. You have to be humble. GOD will help you once you've recognized your weaknesses. You can't seem to hear HIM when your heart is hardened by something or someone. So open your spiritual ears and your heart to GOD.

3rd text message from Jergens:
"You won't fully enjoy a swing unless you raise your feet from the ground. You won't fully enjoy a boat ride unless you remove the rope's knot from the river bank. Your dog won't fully enjoy his/her "dog life" unless you remove the chain on his/her neck. Lesson: never ever limit yourself when it comes to happiness, learn how to let go and take risk. Life is much beautiful outside the comfort zone."

Happiness is a choice. You can either choose to be sad all your life or go your way and choose the path of happiness that leads to the good life GOD has in store for you. A happiness that corresponds to GOD's Will in your life. Learn to let go of your worries and have faith in GOD that HE will always direct your path and guide your feet. Well, anyway, HE already knows your future so why not trust the Author of your life, right? Take risk according to GOD's Will. If you are risking for HIS greater glory, then go for it. If you are comfortable in not risking because you are afraid then you are missing out a lot. If you haven't tried to live the path of righteousness yet, better start now. You'll never know what's in store unless you risk some and find some. I am a testimony of this. I was scared to risk and let my guard down because I am so afraid to love again and might get hurt again, but I realized that GOD will never leave me and that HE gives trials for HIS glory and for us to learn and pass onto others. If I don't try to risk, I won't know what lies ahead of that comfort zone. Like now, I am so scared that Cody might hurt me coz of the past I've had. But, I know GOD will not forsake me. I am risking coz of my revelations and the faith and trust I have in GOD. So far, so good. And also, Cody has been consistent with his patience with me, his care, his love and respect. To top it off, he has been growing in GOD. My fervent prayer for him. GOD is so good!

My devotions for today:
Psalm 107

Pretty long chapter so just click on it if you desire to read it. I just realized now that this is the perfect devotions for me today. Truly, GOD's love endures forever. While I was reading it this morning, I didn't know why I've read that. Now I know. I'm so happy that my gift is back. hehehe! That's why it's always advisable to read your devotions in the morning because it starts your day right and you bring it with you all throughout the day. I have been unfaithful but not rebellious in my ways but then GOD delivers me all the time. That's what this book/chapter speaks of. GOD's undying love to HIS people whatever they do. I love the last verse...

Psalm 107:43
"Whoever is wise, let him heed these things
and consider the great love of the LORD."

The conclusion that is well meant for me. You have GOD's promises everyday, too, so read your Bible and meditate on it. Believe and it shall be given unto you.

A Scripture verse that has been revealed to me twice through 2 different email devotionals:
Joshua 1:9
"...Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

This is a revelation for my career and lovelife. Since I've been unfaithful to GOD lately, I don't know what to do and think. I've thought of not-so-good things. I've been scared physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. But GOD is faithful. HE gave me this verse twice. HE is makulit, too. I love it! hehehe! I still know my purpose though and I'm going to be stuck with that forever and I love every single bit of it! GOD's strength shows only when you're weak. That is the main purpose of trials in your life.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Once the Holy Spirit nudged us to move and obey, do it.

Exodus 23:20-22 (NKJV)
“Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him. But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries."

Well, I am back on track. Thank GOD! I thank GOD for a boyfriend who continues to grow in HIM. Thank you for the patience, honey.

This blog should be updated daily. hehehe! Please remind me. We have revelations everyday.

GOD'S WISDOM AND DISCERNMENT BE UPON YOU!

Jealousy or Envy

Destructive criticism exists because of jealousy. Wise people of GOD use their tongues for encouragement. Growth starts within you not around you.

One way to know someone is jealous: he criticizes by what he see, not by what he know.

One way to react with jealousy: pray for the jealous spirits and be thankful for the blessings that others are jealous of. (wise, huh? hahaha!)

Constructive criticism builds up your spirit. Destructive criticism discourages you.

We don't need to be jealous of what our fellow Christians have because we don't have it. We should be encouraged to delight more in the LORD because if GOD delights in you, HE will give you the desires of your heart that are according to HIS Perfect Will. It always depends upon GOD's Perfect Will for you.

Psalm 37:4
"Delight yourself in the LORD
and He will give you the desires of your heart."

Examine yourself. If you are a jealous person right now, submit your spirit to GOD and you will learn to appreciate everything around you.

I am grateful for my parents who instilled a content spirit in us, their children. I can remember how my parents would always give the fair attention and love to each one of us. I was never jealous of what my sisters have or what others have because my mom taught me the spirit of contentment that she has. I thank GOD for the spiritual contentment with the things that I have now. All that matters is eternal life anyway so why worry of what I don't have now. Lay your treasures in heaven not in worldly things. As long as we are pleasing GOD, we should not be jealous of anything that we lack coz GOD is our pure satisfaction.

Let's be happy of what others have if we want others to be happy of what we have.

May GOD satisfy you in all aspects always!

Jergens Jessel Sarmiento

My faithful follower. A real friend. A loyal companion. A soldier of GOD.

If I have to define friendship, I'd say 'Jergens.'

We have known each other for a long time already. But, we've been real friends since last year only.

Jergens is not perfect. I am not, too. But together, we call ourselves 'Moses and Joshua' or 'Paul and Barnabas.' Moses' successor is Joshua. A success is not a success without a successor, as what sister Melissa once quoted at church. Jergens always insists to be Paul. hahaha! So be it. Barnabas' gift is a heart for people, anyway. hahaha!

Jergens is like a sister to me. A sister in CHRIST. She once made a feature article about me that was for the school paper. She encourages me when I'm weak and I do the same. She listens to my advices and rebukes. She never slandered me. She never raised her voice at me. She never argued with me just so she could win an argument. She knows how to apologize when she makes a mistake. She knows when to listen and when to talk. She always asks how I'm doing. She cares about everything in my life. She's never afraid to cry when she has to. She discerns when I get sad at her (one way to know who your real friends are). She makes me unique and creative gifts. She is never selfish when it comes to me. She understands every concern that I have and we both learn from it. She makes mistakes but knows how to accept and confess them. She understands my moods. She still stays with me come what may because she is never selfish to keep to herself. She is my advocate. She is smart and perseverant with her studies. She desires to learn more. She is interested with my lovelife. She is the only person who really knows about my love story with Cody. She knows it's GOD's gift.

When I've read an 'Our Daily Bread' article entitled 'The Apprentice', I've instantly thought of Jergens. I will always thank GOD for the friendship I have with her. It is GOD's gift to me since we've met each other personally in an 'Encounter GOD Retreat.'

THANK GOD TODAY FOR THE REAL FRIENDS YOU HAVE!

Falling in Love

myspace glitters

After I read an article about walking in love and not falling in love, I began to ponder. I've always questioned it before. I used that phrase, too. Maybe a million times. hahaha! When I surrendered my life to GOD, this phrase has been my 'OCD.' hahaha!

Then, I had a revelation when Cody was here. We talked about it and as I was trying to explain it to him, revelations start flowing in my head. I tried to find the phrase in the Bible. This is what i found...

1 Samuel 18:20 (NLT)
"In the meantime, Saul’s daughter Michal had fallen in love with David, and Saul was delighted when he heard about it."

The only verse that has 'fall in love' in it. Nothing in NIV or KJV versions.

I also never believed in 'love at first sight.' Too corny and false. hahaha! I've always believed that when you fall in love, you fall out of love. Love is a process. Too confusing or unacceptable? Here is a clearer explanation as what the Bible says...

2 John 1:6
"And this is love: that we walk in obedience to His commands. As you have heard from the beginning, His command is that you walk in love."

Ephesians 4:15-16
"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."

2 Thessalonians 1:3
"We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing."

If we can see, the verbs used were...
1) walk - to pursue a course of life
2) grow - to increase in any way; to become larger and stronger; to advance; to extend
3) build up - to increase and strengthen; to increase the power and stability of; establish, and preserve
4) increase - To become greater or more in size, quantity, number, degree, value, intensity, power, authority, reputation, wealth; to grow; to augment; to advance

When we accepted CHRIST and absorbed HIS teachings and chose to obey them, from the OT, the NT stated that there are 2 commandments left. We'll just study the second one which is...

Mark 12:31
The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

Since it's a commandment of GOD, in order to prove that we love HIM, we obey HIM by loving others. First is neighborly love. A love commanded by GOD but with a willing heart. The special person in your life is given to you for you to love with a neighborly love at first. In worldly terms, it starts with friendship. And as the days, weeks, months and years go by, that love grows. You never just wake up thinking that you already 'fall in love' because in the first place, it is already a command. Love is a process not an instant emotion.

If everything went to courtship, then the love is progressing. As what is written, love is defined as...

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails..."

All I know is that I never fell in love with Cody. My love just grows more each day. I've proven that neighborly love by never leaving or forsaking him and I never will. To GOD be the glory!

A GOD-given life

I never thought I could ever have him. All I dreamed of. Even more than that. If I have to love all over again, I would only love him. For me, he is so perfect. With the gentle touch of his blue eyes which can be grey and green, too. What a beautiful sight!

This is one of my sad and confusing days. He asked me, "Do you ever see yourself grow with another man 2 months from now?" I never doubted my answer. The reality will always remain. I will never desire any man other than him. He is my heart's desire as my present and my future, as well.

I've been sharing my concerns with him. He was, as he has always been, truly patient with me. He is very openminded and understanding. He respects me so much. Emotionally, spiritually and physically. We have conquered another complication again. Another trial in our relationship. I give GOD all the glory for the changes HE has done to Cody. The growth HE has given to him. I am truly honored to share my life with this man. Cody stood by me for almost 10 months now. I am not easy to handle, by the way. hahaha! GOD has gifted me a very patient man who sees me as the only woman in his life aside from his mom and female relatives, of course. A man who only wants to see me happy and grow spiritually. He even stayed up late earlier so we could resolve our problems. I appreciate everything he does for me. Sometimes, I even ask myself if I really deserve a beautiful blessing like him. Unbelievable but true. I am grateful for a relationship grounded on GOD alone. Our feet will always go to the same path. The path that leads to GOD!

I talk to other girls and read other girls' stuff on how men disrespected them. A simple fact that I truly appreciate is that Cody never tried to talk/chat sexually immoral to me. He never insisted me to be on cam all the time and show him my whole body or get naked in front of the cam. Another fact is that I don't have a personal cam. Only I see him on cam and he always gets dressed whenever I ask him to be on cam. Kind of biased but then I can't afford a cam for now. hehehe! He respects me a lot in sexual terms. And to think, Americans are liberated. He is very different. One of his best qualities that I could never stop thanking GOD for. I'm very sure that even if I get naked in front of him, he would never touch me. He even reminded me to study my Bible (his gift). Study not just read. hehehe! That's why it's called a 'Study Bible' hahaha!

GOD's blessings are the best especially if they're HIS Perfect Will.

Romans 12:2
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will."

I also want to share that in order to attain a Godly relationship, there should be a formal closure from your past. Genuine forgiveness from both parties. If you want to stop literally dreaming of your past, decide and take the risk on formal closure. A personal testimony...I have gotten over an ex last year for only 2 weeks. 1 day of crying. Why? GOD healed and renewed me. After that, I pursued a Godly life. Just when I surrendered my lovelife to GOD, HE gave me Cody. Real friendship. My best friend next to GOD. My partner and helper here on Earth. The problems don't end there though. I've been having dreams of 'the ex' still. Many times, I've heard preachings about soul ties. What I did is get rid of everything that came from 'the ex.' I couldn't bear dreams of him so I decided to do what our pastor always share about formal closure and assuring forgiveness from the past. I have forgiven him for his shortcomings but for some reason, I could discern that he still hasn't forgiven me so I wrote him an email last month if I am not mistaken. I asked permission from Cody and he supported me. After that email, I stopped dreaming of him which is a relief for me. To top it off, I dreamt of Cody. Seeing him in my literal dreams is such a beautiful gift unfolding right in front of my closed eyes. Before, I used to believe in forgive and forget. Now, I believe in forgive and love again. Love more. Forgive and renew your spirit. Just forgive. Whenever I hear or see my ex's names, I don't feel bitter anymore. No more pain or fear of the past. All the negative washed away by GOD's unfailing love.

Matthew 6:14
"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you."

Matthew 18:21-22
21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"

22
Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Mark 11:25
"And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

I don't have a perfect life. When girls talk about disrespectful men or a bad past, they might tell me that I don't understand because I am happy with my life now, but I've been there. My life can be an open book and you'll see that I've encountered all kinds of men. I survived. GOD healed me. I can tell you now, with all honesty, my heart is clean from pain, fear and grudges from the past. No anger. Just lessons learned. Blessings appreciated. Apart from GOD, I am nothing. I was nothing. I still am nothing but HE is my every good and perfect thing.

James 1:17
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

A Blessed Day

Every day made by GOD is beautiful.

I've been down and low these past 3 days and some people don't even know it and they treat me rudely and abusively because I don't give them the attention that they want. I truly admire the selfless people who care to ask how I'm doing. I don't need lots of advices. All I need for now is just the presence of real friends who know how to ask how I'm doing. It doesn't have to be extravagant. All it takes is a quick 'hi.' Real friends should be comfortable with the silence needed. You don't have to be talking all the time to please one another. I am not perfect. I still encounter problems. I still get sad when moments of sadness attack me but GOD is my ultimate joy. HE uses real friends to cheer me up. HE also gave me a void that only one person can fill and that is my soulmate. My Cody.

This morning, I had that sad feeling. I had a 'children' encounter. When I rode the jeepney, one of the parents at school paid for my fare. I thanked her and asked her about her children. It was amazing to know that her boys were very concerned about her. How her eldest doesn't want to go back to my parents' school which is a private school because he doesn't want his parents to have problems in paying the tuition fees. I also found out that he and his siblings save up their money by walking when going to school and going home. And that he also knows how to take care of his siblings by cooking for them when their parents are away. Also, the youngest girl who is at the age of 5 already knows how to get her clothes from being sun-dried and put them back at the drawer. The parent was crying while she was telling me those stories. I admire her kids for the beautiful hearts they have without forcing them to do chores. Some children nowadays are brought up rudely. I rarely find children like these. Some children nowadays are brought up in a spoiled bratty way. These kids I'm talking about are at the age of 5-12. Young hearts who know how to care for their parents. My heart melted while listening to her. And to think, they are our neighbor. 3 houses away from us. Second, while I was in the jeepney, while the music was playing, I saw this little, cute girl lip-synching with the song. It was cute because her face was very dramatic. Third, I had another little, adorable girl look at me and she smiled. I smiled back at her while she stared at me. Children always make my day good. I am pleased with my little, smart nephew who obeys me. Before, we would usually fight because he's very spoiled with me. But now, I've learned that you must learn to say 'no' so that children won't abuse you and get whatever they want. Discipline is one of the best gifts you can give to children. I lift these beautiful children up to GOD.

I am truly blessed today. I had my friend, Karen treat me for lunch and Jergens treat me for snacks. I have been eating a lot lately. hehehe! When GOD gives, HE gives abundantly. HE also answered my prayer. I just need more discernment for HIS Perfect Will for me in a certain matter I asked from HIM. GOD has never disappointed us. HE just wants the best for us.

To my real friends, thank you for always praying for me. I love you!

To my honey, thank you for always being there for me. I LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH, MY CODY!

To my parents, thank you for not forsaking me. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS!

TO OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! I LOVE YOU TIL ETERNITY WITH ALL OF ME!

The LCD Projector

Image from student computers

Our outreach church in our town conducted a youth concert. Our youth pastor assigned me to take care of the LCD projector. This afternoon, I was with Jergens and took the LCD projector that we're going to rent for the praise and worship. When we took it from Karen, her brother told me that it doesn't have the connector for the laptop. I was a bit worried but then I tried to ask the youth pastor if they have a connector. We went straight to church to test the LCD with my laptop. It wouldn't work. We've tried everything from the USB to the headphone thingy. None of them worked. I don't know but I didn't really panic. I was calm and tried to solve it by texting the secretary of our head church to borrow their connector. The concert was programmed to start at 6pm. The head church people came at around 6pm with the connector. The worship head coordinator helped us with the connector. He never stopped until voila! It worked. At the very last minute, it worked. We all felt good after seeing it work. GOD is so faithful! The first thing I've said was, 'Thank you, Lord" and that is all I have to say. I couldn't let our youth pastor down and most of all, I couldn't let GOD down. I went there to serve GOD and I couldn't just leave without doing anything for HIM. I glorify GOD alone for the patience and calmness that HE has been giving me. With everything and everyone I'm dealing with. I thank GOD for the tactful tongue and a sharp mind that HE has given and been faithfully guarding all the time. HE alone is worthy to be praised and worshipped! I am unfaithful but HE is faithful and good all the time.

Let your guard down to GOD and HE will do the rest. HE is always faithful.

A very sad day

Cody left this morning for the US. I've been crying so much last night that we barely had a conversation. We just mostly stared at each other's eyes. When he was telling me sweet things, I couldn't help but cry. I am missing him so much! He is the one. I do not desire any man but him. I've seen so many things with him. Like a saying at a Shakey's restaurant, "...Your mission is to Spread the Word." and others more that are situated above 2 buildings. I will soon post the pictures of those when Cody gets home. I've learned a lot with him. Mostly about patience. Through thick and thin, he is the only man that I love and I will love. Please never stop praying for us. We are grateful for your gifts of prayer.

Anyway, I was so sad this morning when he left. I couldn't even talk to him in the taxi as he kept on babbling. He just kept on staring at me. He loves staring at me. I had to let him go real quick coz I'm not very good with goodbye's but then, we didn't say goodbye. We said our 'laters.' I am excited for the next meeting. We'll be together for good by then, my love.

As I was in the first bus on my way back to the province, there was a movie played. One boy was named Cody. I felt sadder that I got teary-eyed. At the bus terminal for the second bus, I saw a little boy. He is Filipino-American but his foreign blood dominated him more. As I was staring at him, his mom was trying to give him a piece of loaf bread but he wouldn't take it and cried. His mom then picked a small piece and he took it. He made me smile. My first unforced smile for the day. I told myself that I will have children someday. The boy will look like my Cody and the girl will look like me as Cody always insists. Awww...I feel like crying again. I miss him. A sad feeling. Worse than all the break-ups I've been through. We've counted the days before meeting and we still counted sadly when the day came to separate temporarily. He has my heart locked to him alone.

Ecclesiastes 7:3
"Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart."

I thank GOD for a real relationship that I never had before. I lift this relationship to GOD alone. I am very thankful for the strength that GOD is giving me. Inspite of all the odds, HE is always faithful to me and to Cody.

Family Meeting

We've had our family meeting tonight and I am so glad to know that my parents are very pleased with my Cody. My dad thinks that he's kind. My mom shared her concerns about my past relationships. They've had the chance to live with him for 9 days and it was a wonderful blast. Cody is just so adorable and he is a very good man. My aunts were very fond of him, I can tell. hehehe! He showed respect to everyone and he is a gentleman. The family meeting ended with a beautiful prayer which was never done before with the past relationships I've had. GOD is truly blessing our relationship. Cody has been raised nicely by his parents. He is very organized and neat with his things. He is very responsible when it comes to money. The future matters to him. One thing that struck me is that he told my parents that he loves me very much. My heart melted when he said that. I can only boast of this beautiful blessing GOD has bestowed upon me. Step by step we're moving forward to a brighter future together. Another level has been succeeded. The best is yet to come. Footprints in the sand. As long as we are carried by our Maker, we will never fall. He will never let us fall. Thank you for everyone who supports us. Thank you for everyone who trusted us. Pray for us always. Thank you.

Youth Cell Meetings

Handling young people is one of the most challenging tasks in GOD's ministry but serving GOD is so rewarding.

This week, we've had 2 youth cell meetings. One here in Dagupan composed of my youths. The other is in Ilocos Sur, my youngest sister's classmates. The Dagupan cell meeting tested my patience as one of the kids weren't listening to my invited speaker which is very humiliating for me but then I was very happy with the Ilocos Sur cell meeting because I was looking to each face eagerly listening to me. I thank GOD for everything that HE's giving us. Challenging but rewarding. Also, Cody and I had to treat some friends and youths for a few lunches but amazingly, GOD used my beautiful aunt to treat us to a few fancy restaurants in Dagupan. Very good food. GOD is truly good. First, HE gives you trials then HE gives you blessings that are far better than the trials. Been through a lot in this ministry. I am very honored to serve GOD with or without blessings. GOD has been faithful in teaching me and Cody with patience. I still thank GOD for the young people I'm handling and the young people I've met. Oh and before I forget, I asked the young people at Ilocos to share their own testimonies. When I've had the last girl speak, it was very heartwarming to know that GOD used me to answer her prayers because she wanted the cell meeting so much. She got me teary-eyed. GOD is wow! We weren't actually going to go there but I kept thinking about those souls. GOD has burdened my soul to share to those hungry souls. I was excited and at the same time pressured to share after her testimony. hehehe! But then, it was really nice to see those beautiful children of GOD to listen to you share GOD's Word. I give all the praises to our GOD alone! HE made everything possible for us.

GOD sharpens us. GOD uses other people to sharpen us like pencils. Pencils won't be sharpened without the sharpener and the holder. We won't be sharpened without our Sharpener and the Holder of our lives.

Proverbs 27:17
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

GOD uses other people to test us. To make us stronger. To make us grow more in character. To sharpen us to the way HE wanted us to be.

REMEMBER: WHEN YOU ARE BURDENED, OBEY GOD! HE NEVER BURDENS THE OTHER IF SOMETHING IS MEANT FOR YOU. WHEN YOU ARE BURDENED, GOD IS CALLING YOU TO OBEY HIM! GO AND OBEY! YOU WILL NEVER KNOW HOW GOOD IT FEELS TO SERVE GOD UNTIL YOU START DOING IT CONTINUOUSLY.

GOD's Angels

Image from Eli's angels

Hebrews 13:2
"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it."

I have been hearing stories about angels. About how babies have the most chance to see angels. How some young people at church see visions of angels around them. The most beautiful stories I've heard is from the 'School of Inner Healing and Deliverance.' I have experienced it myself. It is going to be confidential unless you ask me. hahaha! This is a late post though. hahaha!

Testimony:
This is not my testimony but Cody's. This happened while I was waiting for Cody. When he departed his plane and he was inside the airport, there was a man who asked him, "You look new here. We were on the same plane. You were sitting in front of me on the plane. So can I help you find where you're going? Are you looking for someone?" That man led him to the spot where Cody should be waiting for me. But then, I already saw him when they were going down the ramp. When I surprised Cody, it was amazing that before I was going to approach him, the man said, "There she is!" Both of them don't have any idea of what I'm wearing. It's just surprising for me that that man would know Cody is new in an international airport. When Cody hugged me, he said "Thank you" to the man then the man disappeared out of the crowd. I believe that GOD's Angels exist. Do you?

Hebrews 1:14
"Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?"

You don't have to see to believe. You just got to have faith. It is already written in HIS Book that HE sends HIS angels to help and minister to HIS dear children. BE BLESSED TODAY!

GOD's amazing favor

Testimony:

First, I am so ecstatic that my honey is here with me now. I am blessed as I can be that I have such a very handsome and patient boyfriend. He's too good to be true. But GOD is truly faithful. HE gives the best of what is due to you. When I spotted him at the airport while he was just about walking down from inside the airport, I knew he is the one. At the same time, I didn't have any trouble recognizing him. He is different from all the foreigners I saw at the airport. Both emotionally and physically.

Second, I've been praying for a Bible few months ago since I just use my mom's Bible. Then I lost that Bible because it was in my bag that was stolen. I've dreamt of a golden Bible given to me. My godmother sent me a picture of a pink Bible and I knew it instantly that it is mine. Though she hasn't sent it yet but I am patiently waiting. hehehe! Here is the picture...

BUT that's not where it ends...hahaha! I asked for 2 Bibles from GOD. I knew I was gonna get them at the right time when I wait patiently. I acted on my faith and never planned to buy a Bible for myself. Our pastor advised us, his preaching class students, to buy a Study Bible. Jokingly, I knew Cody has a Study Bible so I told him to just give it to me. hahaha! Of course, he didn't want to since it was given to him, too. Amazingly, it was given to him on my birthday. Anyway, yesterday morning, I saw him take out his Bible so I joked again about him giving it to me. When I turned around to fix my things, he told me that he got me a new one. I was so speechless. The same one that he has but hard cover for me. He was almost crying while he was telling me sweet things and handing it to me at the same time. I was surprised. What is more heartwarming is that he painted the sides with gold. To make my heart melt more, when the paint dried up, the pages got stuck altogether so he patiently peeled off the 2000+ pages one by one. I am so blessed to have this man as my boyfriend and my future husband. Oh and here is a picture of my Study Bible...

Now, I've got my cute, pink and girly Bible and a very useful Study Bible. When GOD gives, HE gives the best. Just wait and believe.

Third, I already planned Cody and I's itinerary for his visit for two weeks. I had to cancel a date with 2 of my friends tomorrow because of confidential reasons. hehehe! Anyway, my friends and I planned on eating at Matutina's tomorrow. I canceled it though. This afternoon, I sent my aunt a text and I told her that Cody is here already and I joked that she should treat us out for dinner. She agreed. To top it all off, she asked that we eat at Matutina's. Pretty amazing, huh? I am truly surprised and overwhelmed with these blessings and favor from GOD. GOD IS SO GOOD AND FAITHFUL!

I prayed to GOD to send me Cody as my birthday gift but HE sent me more. Bibles. yay! THANK YOU, FATHER!

Til my next post. hehehe! I am quite taking some time to post here in my blog coz I'm pretty busy with my honey. hehehe! Anyway, please pray for our relationship and thank you for the prayers.

24 hours!!!

I am so nervously excited! 24 hours left before I see my honey. Also called darling, sweetie, sweetness..so much more! hehehe! Our very first personal meeting.

I just want to glorify and thank GOD for the relationship I have now with Cody. This is a new stage for our relationship. A natural one. Everything seems so new and overwhelming. My relationship with Cody is one of my best gifts from GOD. He is such a beautiful blessing from our FATHER. Please pray for us. Everything in my life is because of GOD's love, grace, favor, blessings, faithfulness, goodness and glory!

An Incredible Love Story

An incredible love story has come out of China recently and managed to touch the world. It is a story of a man and an older woman who ran off to live and love each other in peace for over half a century.

The 70-year-old Chinese man who hand-carved over 6,000 stairs up a mountain for his 80-year-old wife has passed away in the cave which has been the couple's home for the last 50 years.

Over 50 years ago, Liu Guojiang a 19 year-old boy, fell in love with a 29 year-old widowed mother named Xu Chaoqin..

In a twist worthy of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Friends and relatives criticized the relationship because of the age difference and the fact that Xu already had children.

At that time, it was unacceptable and immoral for a young man to love an older woman.. To avoid the market gossip and the scorn of their communities, the couple decided to elope and lived in a cave in Jiangjin County in Southern ChongQing Municipality.

In the beginning, life was harsh as hey had nothing, no electricity or even food. They had to eat grass and roots they found in the mountain, and Liu made a kerosene lamp that they used to light up their lives.

Xu felt that she had tied Liu down and repeatedly asked him, 'Are you regretful? Liu always replied, 'As long as we are industrious, life will improve.'

In the second year of living in the mountain, Liu began and continued for over 50 years, to hand-carve the steps so that his wife could get down the mountain easily.

Half a century later in 2001, a group of adventurers were exploring the forest and were surprised to find the elderly couple and the over 6,000 hand-carved steps. Liu MingSheng, one of their seven children said, 'My parents loved each other so much, they have lived in seclusion for over 50 years and never been apart a single day. He hand carved more than 6,000 steps over the years for my mother's convenience, although she doesn't go down the mountain that much.'

The couple had lived in peace for over 50 years until last week. Liu, now 72 years, returned from his daily farm work and collapsed. Xu sat and prayed with her husband as he passed away in her arms. So in love with Xu, was Liu, that no one was able to release the grip he had on his wife's hand even after he had passed away.

'You promised me you'll take care of me, you'll always be with me until the day I died, now you left before me, how am I going to live without you?'

Xu spent days softly repeating this sentence and touching her husband's black coffin with tears rolling down her cheeks.

In 2006, their story became one of the top 10 love stories from China , collected by the Chinese Women Weekly. The local government has decided to preserve the love ladder and the place they lived as a museum, so this love story can live forever.

Source: textunli

Lessons learned: The only thing I do not approve of this love story is the disobedience of parents. Of course, GOD doesn't want us to disobey our parents but then it's Chinese culture. Anyway, I like how GOD's Will prevailed in this relationship. How 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 was applied. It is an inspiration to me.

They had a dinner for Jesus. Martha served the food, and Lazarus was one of the people eating with Jesus. Mary brought in a pint of very expensive perfume made from pure nard. She poured the perfume on his feet, and then she wiped his feet with her hair. And the sweet smell from the perfume filled the whole house. ~JOHN 12:2–3

Two of my teenage years were spent carrying a tuba in my high school marching band. My mom wanted me to learn to read music, and the choir was full while the band was a tuba-tooter short, so I signed up. Not necessarily what you would describe as a call from God, but it wasn’t a wasted experience either.

I had a date with a twirler.

I learned to paint white shoe polish on school buses.

And I learned some facts about harmony that I’ll pass on to you.

I marched next to the bass-drum player. What a great sound. Boom. Boom. Boom. Deep, cavernous, thundering.

And at the end of my flank marched the flute section. Oh, how their music soared. Whispering, lifting, rising into the clouds.

Ahead of me, at the front of my line, was our first-chair trumpet. He could raise the spirit. He could raise the flag. He could have raised the roof on the stadium if we’d had one.

The soft flute
needs
the brash trumpet
needs
the steady drum
needs
the soft flute
needs
the brash trumpet.

Get the idea? The operative word is need. They need each other.

By themselves they make music. But together, they make magic.

Now, what I saw two decades ago in the band, I see today in the church. We need each other. Not all of us play the same instrument. Some believers are lofty, and others are solid. Some keep the pace while others lead the band. Not all of us make the same sound. Some are soft, and others are loud. And not all of us have the same ability. But each of us has a place.

Some play the drums (like Martha).

Some play the flute (like Mary).

And others sound the trumpet (like Lazarus).

Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were like family to Jesus. After the Lord raised Lazarus from the dead, they decided to give a dinner for Jesus. They decided to honor him by having a party on his behalf (see John 12:2).

They didn’t argue over the best seat. They didn’t resent each other’s abilities. They didn’t try to outdo each other. All three worked together with one purpose. But each one fulfilled that purpose in his or her unique manner. Martha served; she always kept everyone in step. Mary worshiped; she anointed her Lord with an extravagant gift, and its aroma filled the air. Lazarus had a story to tell, and he was ready to tell it.

Three people, each one with a different skill, a different ability. But each one of equal value.

GOD's Will

A daily devotional book excerpt from "Devotions for Dating Couples" by Ben Young and Dr. Samuel Adams. Enjoy! Hope you buy the book, too. hahaha!

Do you struggle with finding GOD's will for your life? Whom does HE want you to marry? What job does HE want you to take? Where does HE want you to live?

Years ago I was faced with a difficult decision that had both temporal and eternal consequences. I had to discern the will of GOD on that life-or-death decision. I had two options. If I chose Plan A, GOD definitely could have blessed me. But if I chose Plan A and GOD really wanted me to choose Plan B, then I could have been totally out of HIS will. There were no Scriptures that related to the decision, so I was forced to listen to the inner voice of the Spirit.

As I listened, I heard that voice say to me, Eat at Wendy's. You see, I was torn between eating at Wendy's or McDonald's; I didn't want to miss HIS leading and eat at the wrong place. My understanding of how to discover the will of GOD for my life was a little off base at the time. I needed a big McDose of sound teaching on the issue.

Discerning GOD's will is not always easy, but let me share with you a statement that may help: GOD's will for your life is found in GOD's Word. You could solve most of your problems with trying to hear GOD's voice and discern HIS leadings by opening up the Bible and reading it on a daily basis. You see, our hang-ups with this whole issue arise from a misunderstanding of the will of GOD.

GOD has two wills. The first will is GOD's sovereign, pre-determined will that will be accomplished no matter what. Nothing can stop the awesome plan of GOD, and it will be carried out in HIS timing and in HIS manner. Period. This first will is also called HIS secret will. GOD's second will is called HIS moral will. This will is clearly revealed to us in the sixty-six books of the Bible. It contains promises, commands, warnings, and provisions to sufficiently guide us in this life. GOD's secret will is known only to HIM, hence, the word secret. GOD's moral will is known to all through the Scriptures. The problem occurs when we want to sneak a peek at GOD's secret will before it has been revealed. Often we are too concerned with trying to anticipate HIS next move.

The bottom line is this: don't worry about GOD's secret, pre-determined will. Just trust that GOD is going to work out HIS plan for your life as HE guides you providentially and focus on obeying GOD's moral will day by day by day. When you recognize your dependence upon GOD for holiness, and you humbly seek to live your life according to HIS guidelines and moral teachings, you will be in the middle of HIS will for your life.

GOD's will for your life is more relational (love GOD and others) than it is geographical (know where to live) or occupational (recognize what job to take). HIS will for you today is for you to love HIM with all your heart, mind, body, and soul, and to love others as much as you love yourself. GOD's will is also for you to follow the desires of your heart within the bounds of HIS moral prescriptions. Saint Augustine said it best: "Love GOD and do whatever you want."
